As part of PE we, encourage, support and include every child to participate. We create lessons that are fun and develop every child’s skill. Across the school we have lessons that involve sportsmanship, leadership and team cooperation. Not only do we do a variety of game based activities we cover gymnastics, dance and swimming across both Key Stages.

Last year we had a brilliant year with competitions. Pacesetter coaches provided us with ten different competitions which varied in sport from dodgeball to gymnastics. These competitions allowed children across all the ages to participate and compete against other schools. The children from Wollaston primary showed great sportsmanship and drive to work as a team and through this we did incredibly well and came top out of all the schools across the county.

We have the same opportunity this year to compete in 10 different competitions. There will be a lot of encouragement for new children to get involved with these competitions who didn’t last year. For them to try something new and enjoy being a part of it.

The competitions take place at Benham sports centre and Kettering arena, unfortunately I do not have transport, but I would like to say a big thank you to all the parents that arranged transport for their children to participate in these events, it was brilliant to have the supporters too.

The competitions that have been organised for this year are:

  • Friday 13th October- Benham sports centre- Year 3-4 Football
  • Monday 16th October- Kettering Arena- Year 5-6 Football
  • Friday 10th November- Benham Sports Centre- Year 5-6 Tag Rugby

Our last Ofted showed that teaching is consistently good in our school. Typically, progress is good for each year group and a higher proportion than nationally achieve as expected by the end of both key stages.
