Curriculum Updates

We would just like to take this chance to welcome you all to Key Stage 1.

We are looking forward to getting to know your children this term and helping them to settle in during such an exciting time.

In Key Stage 1 we work hard to teach our children to be independent. This is something we believe will benefit the children throughout their life and something we would encourage you to teach at home also.

Our curriculum theme this term in EYFS and KS1 this term is called ‘Ship to Shore’. We have all sorts of exciting learning planned to help the children learn about pirate life. Some of the questions we will answer in our learning this term will include:

  • Who were the most famous pirates? Why were they so famous?
  • Did pirate ships all look the same? What parts did they have?
  • What jobs did pirates do on their ships? How did they decide who was the Captain?
  • What did pirates eat and drink? Were they healthy?

Of course, this is only a flavour of what we will be covering. Hopefully your child will come home full of enthusiasm for what they have been learning about in school.

Wollaston - "Progress is Good"

Our last Ofted showed that teaching is consistently good in our school. Typically, progress is good for each year group and a higher proportion than nationally achieve as expected by the end of both key stages.
